Description

The Miss America Foundation and a certain magazine teamed up to do a special photo feature featuring various heroines posing in swimsuits. (Those that DIDN'T wear masks.) The proceeds, of course, would go to charity.

Janet Van Dyne, the Winsome Wasp, had the whacky idea of having the girls do the shoot on location at the SAVAGE LAND. The heroines involved all agreed and so arrangements were made.

Susan Richards hired a photographer named Peter Parker.  Those that didn't know who Parker really was would assume he was just used to being in dangerous locations due to all those photos he took of Spider-Man.

Per the agreement a reporter and cameraman for the magazine would also accompany the heroines in order to do a documentary on the shoot.

It was also agreed that Alison Blaire, who knew a thing or two about make-up, would be the make-up artist as well as a model. Thus reducing the number of people going. While there was no danger anticipated it was still the Savage Land and anything could happen.

Upon arrival the MAF met with Ka-Zar who would be their guide. The photos would not only include exotic landscapes but also dinosaurs. (And one saber-toothed tiger who just LOVED the camera.)

Of course something DID happen. A native saw Shanna, Ka-Zar's wife, captured and left bound. Using her link with the insects the Wasp promised she'd get to Shanna and rescue her fastest. Shrinking to Wasp-size she flitted off like a tiny homing missile.

It drove Peter Parker crazy that he could do nothing without blowing his secret identity. Ka-Zar and Zabu followed the Avenger who was already MILES ahead of them.  Sue, Ali and the rest stayed behind and continued with the shoot. After all they couldn't just leave the  "civilians" behind to fend for themselves.

When she arrived on scene Jan noticed the woman, often referred to as the "She-Devil," alone.  Bound to a pole out in the open for all to see.  But there was no one else there. Those who tied her up were nowhere around.

The Wasp landed on Shanna's shoulder her tiny feet startling the much larger woman.

"Mmmmph?"

"Shanna, Shanna, Shanna. How DO you get yourself into these situations?" Jan teased. "Relax. I'm the Wasp of the Avengers. I'll get you out of this in a jiffy."

She was about to remove Shanna's leather gag when suddenly there was a thunderous roar. Both women looked up.

Shanna, and now herself, was in much bigger trouble than Jan had thought. At least Jan now knew why the kidnappers didn't hang around.

Great story
Enjoyed the classic concept of the M A F doing a swim suit photo feature for charity
As a personal aside ( I recall when Marvel used to do such things . For me the "high water mark" was a magazine special swim suit issue set in Wakanda were the participants ( both heroes and villains ) were welcomed by  King T'Challa and Queen Ororo- [ahh those were the days- and we shall not see their like again- at least not from Marvel])
Really like that  Peter Parker  was hired to be the photographer( and how he could not come to the rescue with out "blowing his cover ") and that  Alison was pressed into service as the make up artist( very plausible ) and especially liked the fact that Zabu "just loved the camera"and that when it came time to rescue Shanna ,only Jan was dispatched because the civilians  had to be protected   . Such details really add to the depth and texture of the story and make for a very satisfying read
Jan's light hearted tone when she first  locates Shanna was a nice touch and was a great prelude to the deadly danger they were about to face and as such was a great piece of story construction
Well Done
